When you decide to elope in the outdoors, the options are really endless! YOU get to decide exactly where you will have the day of your dreams – a place that feels right for both of you.
If you’re up for a bit of hiking there are so many stunning locations to be found – read on to find out how to make it all happen.
When you first begin this journey, it may seem overwhelming with all of the options to pick from.
I recommend working backward – begin by thinking about what you’d like to be surrounded by. Regal, snow-capped peaks? A dusty desert overlook? Towering trees? A serene beach?
You might also consider what type of activities you’d like to incorporate into your day. Obviously hiking to a mountain peak will dictate a mountainous region, but something like “horseback riding” could involve the beach, forest, mountains, or desert.
Once you’ve identified the type of place you’re both craving and possible activities you’d like to do, start putting together a list of places that match your vision. Don’t be afraid to dream BIG – this is your wedding day, after all! The location could be familiar to you… or it could be in a state or country you’ve never been to. Don’t worry about nailing down a specific trail at this point in your discovery – that will come once you’ve decided on a general location. You might find inspiration on Instagram or Pinterest.
If you’re thinking of doing a little (or a lot) or hiking on your elopement day, you can utilize the All Trails (app or desktop version) to help find specific trails within a general location. This is an amazing resource which allows you to filter trails by length, elevation gain, and location. Make sure to be honest with yourselves about your hiking abilities before deciding on a trail – you’ll want to feel your best and be comfortable with whatever you choose for your big day.
